Dear Colleague,
GTC’s 11th Cytokines and Inflammation Conference, one of four parallel
tracks of the
Novel Immunotherapeutics Summit on January 31 - February 1, 2013 in
San Diego, CA, promotes a dynamic exchange of cutting edge developments
in the field. Featuring a wonderful balance of presentations from academia,
government and industry, the role of cytokines in health and disease and
therapeutic applications will be discussed. Encompassed will be many cytokine
families, chemokines and alarmins, and their roles in disease, ranging
infectious disease, cancer, and autoimmune and inflammatory diseases including
lupus, pulmonary fibrosis, metabolic and neuromuscular diseases.
Focused topics include developments in the therapeutic application of cytokines
and proposal of new targets, the complex relationship between the immune system
and microbes in the homeostasis of mucosal tissues, new findings in the biology
and regulation of IL-23 and IL-17, novel means to modulate immune pathways to
promote anti-tumor activity, lessons learned from genetic manipulation, and
cutting edge understanding in the field of signaling.
The GTC Cytokines and Inflammation conferences have become an established
meeting point for academic scientists and industry clinical developers to
exchange their complementary approaches in the field of cytokine biology. As
usual, poster sessions and opportunities for networking will complement the
great roster of distinguished speakers. The organizations participating are a
great selection of innovative medical organizations from academia (City of Hope,
NCI, NIH, USC, Sanford-Burnham, Cleveland Clinic, UCLA, University of Florida,
etc.), industry (Amgen, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Genentech, HUMIGEN, MedImmune,
Biogen Idec, Merck Serono, Novo Nordisk, etc.) and, last but not -by any means-
least, the US FDA.
Sessions for the conference are:
Therapeutic Applications of Cytokines and Chemokines
Mucosal Homeostasis and Inflammation
Cytokines and Metabolism
Cytokines in Health and Disease
Cytokine Regulation
2nd
Novel Immunotherapeutics Summit:
Workshop:
Immune Responses in Tumor Microenvironment
11th Cytokines and Inflammation Conference
5th Immunotherapeutics & Immunomonitoring

What Past Delegates said:
"The GTCbio Cytokines & Inflammation Conference was an excellent compendium of
leading academic and industry researchers who provided up-to-the-minute
information on emerging topics in cytokine pathophysiology, pharmacology and
therapeutics. The setting was intimate enough to provide excellent networking
opportunities and large enough to provide a satisfying breadth of topics. "
- Peter J Mannon, University of Alabama
"The GTCbio Meeting provided a unique opportunity for a select group of
scientists from biotechnology, pharmaceutical companies and academia to
communicate and interact in a very pleasant setting. The program covered not only
fundamental advances, but also translational and diagnostic applications of the
latest findings."
- Joost J. Oppenheim Chief of the Laboratory of Molecular Immunoregulation,
Cancer and Inflammation Program, NCI, NIH.
"The Cytokines Conference provided great opportunities for networking among
folks from academia, industry, and regulatory agencies. The presentations were a
great mix of high-powered molecular biology and clinical applications of
anti-cytokine therapies."
- Phillip K. Weck, Ph.D., Vice President & CDTL, Immunology R&D, Janssen
"Energizing and inspiring intimate conference. The new ideas and connections are
worth the investment".
- Francisco Leon, VP, Janssen R&D |
