Dear Colleague,

The Biomarker Summit 2014, to be held on March 19-21, 2014 in San Diego, CA is a meeting place for leaders in the field to discuss the issues and challenges scientists and researchers face in all aspects of the biomarker and diagnostic development process from discovery to translation to commercialization. A wide variety of important topics will be covered including biomarker identification and validation strategies, bioinformatics and systems biology approaches to personalized medicine, big data management, regulatory and reimbursement trends, companion diagnostics development, and, finally, funding and investment opportunities. Through scientific presentations, case studies and panel discussions, these areas will be addressed in an intimate and highly interactive environment with perspectives from industry, academia and the public sector.

Assembling leading scientists, researchers, decision-makers and other players across the industry spectrum, the Summit provides a unique opportunity to gain the latest biomarker developments in three major therapeutic areas, formally organized in the following tracks and sessions:

7th Oncology Biomarkers:
- Circulating Tumor Cells and Cell-Based Assays
- Cell Free DNA and Blood-Based Assays
- Imaging Biomarkers in Oncology
- Digital & Molecular Pathology
- Next Generation Sequencing in the Clinic
- Applications of Mass Spectrometry Platforms

3rd Neurological Biomarkers:
- Imaging in CNS Drug Discovery and Development
- CSF / Fluid-based Biomarker Approaches
- Early Identification and Preclinical Disease Biomarkers
- EEG and Other Functional Biomarkers
- Biomarker Development in Neuropsychiatric Disorders

3rd Inflammatory / Immunological Biomarkers:

- Predicting Progression & Therapeutic Response of Cardiovascular Disease
- Predictive Biomarkers of Slowly Progressive Diseases
- Biomarkers and Surrogate Endpoints for Clinical Trials in Inflammatory Diseases
- Immunological Biomarkers in Cancer Biomarker Challenges in Rare Diseases

General Session (All Tracks):

- Bioinformatics & Biostatistics
- Point of Care Testing
- Panel Discussion: Regulatory & Reimbursement Trends in Biomarker Development
- Panel Discussion: Investment Perspectives & Funding Opportunities
- Panel Discussion: Companion Diagnostics Development & Partnering Strategies

What Past Delegates Said About GTC's Biomarker Conferences:

"This was a very good conference that brought together scientist and managers from industry and academia, presenting the progress, chances and challenges in the biomarker arena. I liked in particular the size of the conference which was very good for networking."
- Khusru Asadullah, Vice President, Head of Global Biomarker, Bayer Pharma AG

“I found that participation at this conference was highly rewarding. Its size was ideal for networking, and the program was a perfect mix of disease areas and novel technologies.”
- Mark Broenstrup, R&D Diabetes Division, Biomarker & Diagnostics, Sanofi-Aventis

“The smaller size of these meetings relative to the mega-conferences we often attend is a welcome change! There were many opportunities to meet and talk with other attendees one-on-one, and to my mind, that is one of the great benefits of attending a meeting. The quality of the presentations was universally high."
- Mark Duncan, Professor of Medicine, School of Medicine, Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes, University of Colorado

“A very informative conference on Biomarkers featuring a good selection of speaker and topics – the best biomarker meeting I’ve attended in a while. The size of the conference was great for networking. I made a lot of good contacts there and learned a lot from the discussions I had with other attendees. The location was great as well.”
- Paul Whittaker, Director, Respiratory Diseases Area, Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research

"The GTCbio conference put me in touch with a focused group of researchers from all walks interested in advancing the same science. I've never connected with so many potential research partners in such a short time."
- Timothy R. Church, Professor, Division of Environment Health Science, University of Minnesota
